A Parting Present

Grandma K left a gift for J to open after she had gone. He got....

A gas can for his red car! He carried around the house for quite a while and enjoyed it in the tub that evening. Now it's outside with the car and every once in a while he remembers what to do with it.
He also got a Little People airplane.

That made him VERY happy!

He loves putting the people in and taking them out of the plane...and of course, opening and closing the door!
He also caught on to the noises a plane makes pretty fast. Sorry the video is a bit long. I forgot to cut it before deleting it from the camera but you get some good VROOM action in the middle!

A New Fridge

One morning we noticed that the freezer wasn't working properly. By the evening, the things in the refrigerator weren't cold either. BUMMER! $400 to repair or just buy a new fridge! So, we shopped around. Funny...NO PLACE in this town has a refrigerator that you can actually go in and buy and take home with you (unless you want to spend about $2000!) So, we had to order one and wait 5 days! Our old freezer served as an old time "ice box" for the few things we needed to have on hand. Thankfully there was extra space in the fridges at the mission dorm so we didn't waste all of our groceries!

Again, God continues to bless us beyond our wildest imaginations. We continue to be His "chiples." The day our fridge broke a man from Fort Collins, CO was in town. His church supports S. as a seminary student. He bought our new fridge!

Here is the new deal - with practically NO groceries in it! NICE!

(Even though I have not even really gone grocery shopping since my mom left there are quite a few more things in the fridge now!)

Working Hard

J's two favorite toys seem to be the cell phone and the computer. While I conceded that both S & I are on the computer a lot for work and school I don't really think we are on the phone that often. Well, this morning, J got a good chance at the computer because he snuck over there when mommy & daddy weren't paying attention. Of course, within about 5 seconds he found the power button - so now the computer is off limits!

While Grandma K was still here

Well, I realized that it's been about a monht since I posted any pictures! Whoops! The good news is.....I'm almost done with my Thesis!!!!

Here is some catching up for you.

Here is Jaden in his favorite cupboard with his favorite kitchen toy.

This is the "Wheels on the bus - safari version" book. Cool buttons that sing fun songs...it's a favorite!

Jaden likes to help with laundry. He is getting good at putting clothes in the washer and he's EXCELLENT at shutting the door! I just always have to check before starting a load to make sure he hasn't stashed some toy or canned good in there!

This looks like a "I didn't do it" face - blueberry lips and all.

Hanging out on the porch.

Playing with my school bus from Great Aunt K.

Eating pizza with daddy

Riding the Tonka Truck

Who knows what I was doing here - but isn't this a cute face?!

We now know when Jaden is hungry. He finds something on the shelf and brings it to us. Often it is cereal, sometimes crackers, sometimes canned green beans....I'm not sure if it is whatever he can find or if he brings what he wants to eat!

Playing with the cool cube

Grandma hung an Easter egg from my ear! One of my new favorite games is putting them into and taking them out of the egg carton!

Celebrating March birthdays with GOOD desserts after a GREAT meal at Landry's.

Jaden's first ride on one of these coin operated toys. I think he was just as happy sitting in it still as he was once it was moving and singing.

One last day of fun with Grandma at the park (for now).

Happy Baptismal Birthday Jaden!

Falling asleep on Grandma's shoulder to my personalized Veggie Tales CD (thanks Godmother K! - it's my FAVORITE!)

Awww...those are GOOD snuggles!

What fun! More recent events to come SOON!

Hooray for Fish

This is Jaden's favorite book right now. He has brought it to me about 5 times already today to read and it's the only one he wants at bedtime!

Advice

Hey there. I know there are a number of you that read this blog that have little kiddos. I'm looking for some advice....

Do you know of anywhere I can get a good set of guidelines for what and how much food a 13 month old should eat? I keep running out of ideas. Jaden does well with most table food but, you know, sometimes mommy and daddy don't eat as healthy as we should. I want to be sure he's getting enough of the right kinds of foods.

So far the only types of menues I've been able to find are through Gerber and they just include lots of their name brand snacks and baby foods. If you have any tips, I'd really appreciate it!

Shower

I think I can finally guarantee myself a shower EVERY DAY!!!!

This morning I took Jaden in the bathroom with me armed with several toys to play with while I was in the shower. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Lately he has been more and more interested in the water coming out of the faucet so today he didn't want anything to do with the toys. He had to check out the water. The only problem was, he kept getting sprayed. So, I took off his clothes and plopped him in the tub with his bath toys. He was totally entertained the whole time! YEA for showers!!!!!!
